Rachel Whitmire Helton, 74 of Gainesville reached her heavenly home on Thursday, October 25, 2018. She was preceded in death by her husband, Albert, “Jr” Helton, parents, M. D. and Rena Whitmire, brother, L. D. Whitmire and niece, Shelly Worden. She is survived by her sons, Jeff (Tina) Helton and Jason (Stacy) Helton; grandchildren, Alissa Helton, Cooper and Sara Rachel Helton; sister, Peggy (Lewis) Spain; niece, Dena (Larry) Grizzle and nephew, Mickey Spain; and other family members and special friends, Barbara Williams and Sue Sosebee.

Rachel loved gospel music, shopping, crocheting and antique car shows, and loved to eat at the Waffle House. She loved her family and enjoyed going to her grandchildren’s events, horse shows and baseball games. She was an active member of Dewberry Baptist Church #1 where she played piano and sang in the choir for many years and was a member of the Wall Watchers SS Class.

She served as piano player and sang many years at Morningside Assisted Living. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, October 28, 2018 at Dewberry Baptist Church #1. Dr. Brad Reynolds and Rev.

Henry Loggins will officiate. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Saturday, October 27, 2018 from 3-5 and 6-8 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Dewberry Baptist Church #1, c/o Vickie Reese, 5807 Henson Road, Gainesville, GA 30506.
