Catherine Goodnight Jefferson, 83, died October 14, 2018 in Gainesville, Georgia. She was born in Belen, Mississippi on July 8, 1935 to Louise and Clyde Goodnight and grew up in Greenville, MS. She graduated from E. E. Bass High School where she was a cheerleader and championship tennis player.

She married her school sweetheart George Wayne Jefferson in 1953 and they were married 65 years. Together they raised two boys, Mike and Randy, mostly in Louisville, Kentucky where they both worked at Iroquois High School. After their sons left home, they moved to Gainesville in 1979 both working at Riverside Military Academy where they had countless cadets as “their boys”.

She is preceded in death by her parents, her son Michael Wayne Jefferson, her grandson Daniel Jon Jefferson and her sister-in-law Louise Sullivan. She is survived by her husband, her daughter-in-law Shirley Jefferson, her son Randy and daughter-in-law Margaret, her grandchildren Greg Jefferson, Lila and Brian Jefferson, Stevie and Fletcher Pendergrass, James Jefferson and Katherine Jefferson, her sister-in-law Elouise Sullivan, 9 great grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren. Her family would like to thank the staff and nurses at New Horizons Limestone Nursing Home for their loving care during her short stay there.

There will be a visitation with the family this Saturday from 9:30-10:30 a.m. with a Funeral service to follow at 10:30 a.m. at Little and Davenport Funeral Home, 355 Dawsonville Hwy in Gainesville.
