Mr. Herbert Morgan, 72, husband of Susan Morgan and a resident of Accomac, VA, passed away Saturday, November 3, 2018 at his home. Born December 18, 1945 in Camden, NJ, he was the son of the late Herbert Elton Morgan and Mary Richter Morgan. Herb was born and raised in Camden and spent his summers along the Jersey shore.

He served his country in the United States Army, and in 1971, moved to the Eastern Shore of Virginia where he began working as an electronic technician for NASA. He later worked for NOAA for several years and then returned to NASA, retiring in 2007. Herb’s work contributed significantly to the base’s sounding rocket program and data collection system.

Over the years, he shared his expertise on many projects, including fabrication and testing of telemetry systems, maintaining the G.O.E.S. Satellite Data Collection System, designed an antenna which simultaneously transmitted east and west satellites, and designed flight electrical systems for the sounding rocket program. His efforts resulted in more than 65 successful launches during his time at NASA.

Through his passion for electronics, Herb became a ham radio operator and enjoyed the local group. Although he loved the city, Herb adapted well to life on the Eastern Shore where fishing, hunting, crabbing, and clamming became his favorite hobbies. He and Sue raised two daughters, both of whom he adored.

Herb was a loving, devoted, and supportive husband and father and will be greatly missed. In addition to his wife, survivors include his two daughters, Sandy Johnson and husband Ken of Raleigh, NC; and Janet Morgan of Richmond, VA; sister, Carolyn Wolski of Anchorage, AK; four grandchildren, Teresa, Gwen and Sean Johnson, and Elijah Morgan Baron; niece, Marie Wolski Stehmer and husband Michael; nephew, Michael Wolski and wife Karen; and their families. Other than his parents, he was predeceased by his brother-in-law, Ed Wolski; niece, Loretta Wolski Ausman; and nephew, John Wolski.

Funeral services will be conducted from the graveside at the Edgehill Cemetery on Saturday, November 10, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. Memory tributes may be shared with the family at www. williamsfuneralhomes.com. Arrangements by the Williams-Parksley Funeral Home.
