Obituary for Hodge Anthony Kiefer Hodge Anthony Kiefer passed from this life on Sunday, November 4, 2018 at the age of 90 years with his wife at his side. Hodge was predeceased by his first wife of 51 years, Joyce Rose Kiefer; his father, Anthony Kiefer, Jr. and his mother Lucy Hodge Kiefer. Hodge had no children from his previous marriage but enjoyed a large family with his wife, Beverly Richardson Kiefer, including his stepdaughter, Deirdre and her husband, Tom Faherty.
Three stepsons, Reid Richardson (wife Donna), Tom Richardson (wife Melissa), and Jody Richardson (wife Victoria) were like his own sons. He also enjoyed 15 step-grandchildren and 15 step-great grandchildren. He was especially close to Reid and Reid’s sons, Beau and Scott, who were always available to help him regardless of the time of day or night.
Hodge is survived by his sister, Gae H. Myers; his brothers, Robert Kiefer and Jules Kiefer and his sister-in-law, Rose Kiefer, along with numerous nieces and nephews. He was particularly fond of his nephew, Gregory Myers. After enrolling in the Army ROTC program at LSU for one year, Hodge joined the Army National Guard and served for four (4) years.
Hodge was a member of St. Peter Catholic Church. He was a member of knights of Columbus Council 3061 for 69 years. A lifetime member of the Covington Lions Club, Hodge served as its president during 1978-79.
Hodge was a very successful salesman beginning at age 8 selling magazines door-to-door in New Orleans where he was born and lived until the age of 12 when the family moved to Covington. He won many awards fir tio salesman of the year in the food brokerage business and was proud of his achievements as owner of Hodge Kiefer and Associates with his wife, Joyce. In fact, he enjoyed his work so much that he did not retire until age 75 when he married Beverly.
Hodge will be terribly missed by his wife and other loved ones. The family of Hodge Kiefer wishes to extend a special thanks to all who were involved in not only his loving and tender care at Avanti and The Trace but that which was extended to his wife as well. Relatives and friends are invited to attend the Funeral Mass at St. Peter Catholic Church, 125 E. 19th Ave, Covington, LA 70433 on Wednesday, November 7, 2018 at 12:00 noon with visitation at church on Wednesday beginning at 10:00 AM.
