Obituary for Ann Skelly Masinter Yorsch Ann C. Skelly Masinter Yorsch passed peacefully away on Sunday, December 9, 2018 in Mandeville, Louisiana at the age of 84. Born on January 19, 1934 in New Orleans, Louisiana to the late James Evan Skelly, Sr. and Essie Dozart (Dauzat) Skelly, she was the youngest sibling of the late James Evan Skelly, Jr., Jane Catherine “Betty” Skelly Stanford, Beverly Rose Skelly Byrnes, and Erlen Patricia “Pat” Skelly. Ann spent her youth in the Mid-City neighborhood of New Orleans, attended church at St. Anthony of Padua Church, and school at John Dibert School.
At the age of 16, Ann graduated from Eleanor McMain High School. She studied voice at Schram Studios and played the piano and cello. Ann had a beautiful voice and sang in many operettas, in church as well as on live radio.
She was offered a full scholarship for voice at Loyola University. Ann is survived by two daughters born during her marriage to Donald L. Masinter; Skelly Masinter Tempereau and Whitney Masinter Bretz (Robert); and was the proud grandmother of Erin Ann Rinder, Jackson Clinton Tempereau, Emme Laine Bretz and Amelia Elizabeth Bretz; and great-grandmother to Mason Israel Rivera. Ann worked for many years in the Executive Offices of the World Trade Center, New Orleans, where she retired at age 65.
Ann was a wonderful and giving mother to her children and she absolutely loved being “Granny” to her grandchildren. Ann was a kind and generous person to all who knew her, and she also loved animals and enjoyed her many pets. The family would like to offer a special thanks to St. Catherine’s Hospice for their gentle care and support.
