Holly Eleanor Welch Corno, age 70, passed away on Tuesday, January 1, 2019 at Rex Hospital. Holly was born December 6, 1948 in Binghamton, New York to the late George and Charlotte Welch. After spending most of their school years in Minnesota, the family moved to North Carolina in 1965.

Holly was employed with IBM as a programmer for 30 years until she retired in 1999. After retirement in 1999, Holly kept herself busy by spending time with her grandchildren, needlepoint, crochet, playing Bingo and cards with family and friends, traveling to the mountains and the beach. Holly is survived by her daughters: Holly Ann Goldman and son-in-law, Tony Calametti, Tracy Jones and partner, David Fitzsimons all of Raleigh; sisters: Barbara (Pat) Eagan of Carolina Shores, NC, Janet Hensel of Raleigh, and Leslie (Paul) Miller of Raleigh; grandchildren: William Goldman, Zachary and Eleanor Jones; nephews: Neil Hinch and Scott (Emilie) Hinch, nephews: Craig Hensel, Ryan Miller and niece, Reba Miller; close friends, Doris Winn, Ellen Zoltoski, Earl Jones of Raleigh, NC and Cathy Knobel of MN.

The family wishes to thank both the caregivers at Rex Rehabilitation and Nursing Care Center as well as those at the Rex Heart and Vascular Hospital. In honor of Holly’s wishes, no formal services will be held. Instead, the family will celebrate her life later in the year by spreading her ashes in the North Carolina Mountains.
