Howard Lee “Red” Clark, 86, of Mayfield passed away at 6:45am on Monday May 7, 2018 at Lourdes Hospital in Paducah. Red was truly a legend and was considered by many, not only in this area, but across the nation, as the Donut Making King. He opened his first donut shop in 1958 Red’s of Paducah and the rest is history.

This legendary donut talent took him to Mayfield, Ky. where he opened H & C Donuts. Red was a loving family man who enjoyed sharing a story with anyone who stopped by his shop and wanted to say hi.

That’s because he took the time to get to know his customers personally. He could talk to a millionaire or sit down with the homeless, with him it didn’t matter. Red had the ability to make everyone feel good about themselves.

That gift, combined with his wonderful tasting donuts, helped him gain the notoriety he had. He is survived by his wife, Charlene, of Mayfield; three daughters, Dottie Morgan of Paducah; Betty (Mark) McClain of Paducah; Patty (Russ Bennett) Clark of Paducah; one step-daughter, Kim (Tim) Womble of Lowes; four sons, Howie (Carol) Clark of Paducah; David (Tina) Clark of Paducah; Mike (Mary Beth) Clark of Paducah; Nicky Clark of Paducah; two step-sons, Dwyane (Theresa) Spillman of Milburn, Derek (Heather) Spillman of Mayfield; 28 grandchildren; 45 great-grandchildren; and two-great-great Grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Mary Julia Clark.

Funeral services will be 12:00pm on Monday May 14, 2018 at Lindsey Funeral Home with the Rev. Glen Stewart officiating. Burial will follow at Mt.

Carmel Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4:00pm to 8:00pm on Sunday May 13, 2018 at Lindsey Funeral Home. Online condolences may be left at www.
