Hugh Arch McKenzie III, 67, of Shannon NC, died Thursday, February 14, 2019 in Raeford, NC. Hugh was born in Lumberton, NC on February 17, 1951 to the late Hugh Arch “Bill” McKenzie, Jr and the late Mary Magdalene Sides McKenzie. He graduated from Hoke County High School in 1969.

He is preceded in death by his sister, Sue McKenzie Gardner, and his brother, John Timothy McKenzie. Hugh was skilled at interior home painting and construction work. He enjoyed vegetable gardening and fishing.

He was a self-taught guitarist and artist. His paintings were of fish he caught in local ponds. Hugh is survived by his sister, Joyce D. McKenzie of Chapel Hill, NC.

A graveside service at Antioch Presbyterian Church Cemetery ,Red Springs NC, will be conducted at 11:00 am on Wednesday, February 27, 2019 with the Reverend Jim Smith officiating.
