OBITUARY Hugh Cole December 19, 1933 – April 30, 2018 Hugh Cole, 84, formally of Mystic Connecticut and Massachusetts passed away peacefully Monday April 30th, 2018 after a long and full life and a courageous battle with esophageal cancer. Born in Brooklyn NY in 1933 he was the son of Hugh L. M. and Emma Heap Cole. He was the beloved husband of the late Nancy Cole and devoted father of Stephanie Hughes and her husband Jim of Southborough, MA; Sharon (Shay) Sawyers and her husband Ken of Holliston, MA.

Also, a loving brother, he leaves behind Josy Wright and her husband Harry of Jamestown, RI; and Penny Pacheco of McKinleyville, CA. In addition, he was a very proud grandfather of Haley and Cole Hughes, and Emma and Lily Sawyers. He is also survived by two step-sons as well as several nieces and nephews.

He was an avid sailor, lover of music and singing, and adored being on Fischer’s Island sound on his boat. He leaves behind several life time friends from the Mason’s Island and Mystic area. There will be a gathering to celebrate his life Saturday May 12th from 4-6pm at the Mason’s Island Yacht Club in Mystic, CT.

In lieu of flowers, he requested that donations be sent to MIYC Sailing Program MIYC, PO BOX 465 Mystic CT 06355.
