Obituary for Hugh Jackson “Jack” Mowrey Jr. Hugh Jackson “Jack” Mowrey, Jr. 83 of Manitou, KY passed away Saturday, October 6, 2018 at his residence. He was born April 13, 1935 in Springfield, TN to the late Hugh and Norine Margaret Mowrey. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Gracie McCloud Mowrey.

Hugh Worked as a watch maker for many years at Bryants Jewelry, Madisonville. He was an expert and avid watch maker, photographer and gunsmith and basically a “Jack of all trades”. He served in U.S. Air Force as a photographer from 4/21/54 – 7/24/62 with an Honorable Discharge and was awarded the National Defense Service Medal and Good Conduct Medal.

He was a regular and devoted member of his Sunday school class at Manitou Baptist Church. Survivors include: two daughters, Sharon Lee Firor of Spokane, WA, and Carol Lynn Claypool of Aberdeen, WA; one son, Benjamin Wayne Mowrey of Aberdeen, WA; and one step-daughter, Pamula McCulley of Portland, TN. Funeral services will be 11 a.m., Wednesday, Oct.

17 at Barnett Strother Funeral Home with Pastor Sam Beeny officiating. Burial will follow at Old Brush Cemetery, Portland, TN. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. Wed.
