Hunter Blake “H.B.” McKinney, 24, passed away on Tuesday, September 11, 2018. He was born in Abingdon, Va. on February 1, 1994.

Hunter Blake was a 2012 graduate of Abingdon High School where he was aptly chosen as Biggest Cut Up. He was also a member of Pleasant View United Methodist Church and was employed at the Harvest Table Restaurant in Meadowview, Va. Hunter Blake will be remembered by his family and friends as a kind, loyal, and sweet young man.

Hunter Blake was preceded in death by his grandfathers, Samuel David McKinney and Charles Hunter James. He is survived by his loving parents, Blake and Suzanne McKinney of Abingdon and Terri and Edward Cozart of Abingdon; sister, Katie McKinney of Knoxville, Tenn.

; grandmothers, Phyllis “Nana” McKinney of Abingdon and Charlotte “Nee-Nee” James of Bluefield, Va. ; two step-brothers, Stone Cozart and Alex Hall; two step-sisters, Evie Cozart and Lynsey Hall; and his very special aunts and uncles, Mark and Stephanie James, Hope McKinney, and Sam and Sharon McKinney; cousins, Spencer, Seth, and Samuel; and niece and nephew, Bailee and Bentley. A funeral service will be held at Pleasant View United Methodist Church, 18416 Lee Hwy.

, Abingdon, VA 24210, on Saturday, September 15, 2018, at 2:00 p.m. with the Rev. Dale Gilbert and the Rev. Barbara Farmer officiating.

A private committal service will follow at Forest Hills Memory Gardens where Michael Cozart, Stone Cozart, Alex Hall, Mark James, Sammy McKinney, Samuel McKinney, and Seth McKinney will serve as pallbearers. Visitation will be held at the Main Street Chapel of Farris Funeral Service, 427 E. Main St., Abingdon, VA 24210, on Friday, September 14, 2018, from 5:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Pleasant View United Methodist Church Youth Program.
