Ila Mae Martin May 22, 1928 – February 08, 2019 Sign Guestbook| Send Private Condolences| Send Sympathy Card TOPEKA – Ila Mae Martin, 90, of Topeka, died Friday, February 8, 2019 at the Plaza West Care Center in Topeka. She was born May 22, 1928 at Avoca in Jackson County the daughter of Lloyd and Sarah Bostwick Bowser. She graduated from Soldier High School in 1946.

Ila Mae had worked at American Bindery in Topeka and in the kitchen at Tecumseh North School. She was a member of the West Side Baptist Church in Topeka. She married Paul Martin, Jr. on October 31, 1948 at Valley Falls.

He preceded her in death on April 9, 2006. Ila Mae was also preceded in death by her parents, a son, Ronald Dean Martin, who died in a car accident in 1954, and a brother, Clifford Bowser. Survivors include a son, David Martin, Topeka; two brothers, Bob Bowser and wife Eva, Holton and Larry Bowser and wife Alice, Meriden; two sisters, Edna Starr, Topeka and Barbara Amos, Olathe; one granddaughter, Paula Park and one great granddaughter, Averie Park.

A graveside service will be held at the Chapel Oaks Funeral Home in Holton on Saturday, February 16th at 11:00 a.m. Private burial will be in the Holton Cemetery. The casket will remain closed. Memorials are suggested to the Westside Baptist Church, and may be sent in care of the funeral home, P.O. Box 1034, Holton, 66436.
