Ilene Meeks Davis January 30, 1927 – January 20, 2019 Share this obituary Send Flowers Sign Guestbook| Send Private Condolences| Send Sympathy Card Ilene Meeks Davis, age 91, of Nicholls, Georgia passed away on Sunday, January 20, 2019 at her residence after an extended illness. She was born in Coffee County on January 30, 1927 to the late Lonnie Meeks and Cassie Taylor Meeks. Her husband Herbert Gerreld Davis, three brothers, John M. Meeks, Alton Gordon Meeks and Warren Lonnie (W.L.) Meeks, four sisters, Vera Thelma Douglas, Oletha M. Thomas, Vonice Rebecca Anderson and Beatrice Youngblood preceded her in death.

She was Valedictorian of her graduating class in 1944 and was a member of Nicholls Church of God of Prophecy. Survivors include two daughters, Verlene (Missy) Gunn and husband Larry of Nicholls, Peggy Luft and husband Frank of Tampa, FL. , one brother, Herbert Meeks of Alma and one sister, Mary Frances Meeks Davis of Nicholls, one granddaughter, Cassie Meagan Gunn of West Green, GA.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, January 23rdat 2:00 PM at the Nicholls Church of God of Prophecy with Rev. Tommy R. James, Rev. K. P. Murphy and Rev.

Edwin Puckett officiating. Interment will follow in Meeks Cemetery. The body will be carried to the church at 1:00 PM to lie in state.

The family will be receiving friends at the funeral home Tuesday evening from 6 to 9 PM. Active pallbearers will be; Herman Adams, Ricky Gilliard, Michael Rouse, Ardel Boatright, Mike Fletcher and Shawn Floyd. Honorary pallbearers will be; Members of The Nicholls Church of God of Prophecy.
