Ione’s Obituary Ione Barbara Hurley, age 100, a 61 year resident of St. Louis Park, died on May 7, 2019. Ione was born June 7, 1918 in Phillips, WI, raised in Glidden, WI, and in 1939 moved to Minneapolis, where she met and married Jeremiah (Jerry) Hurley. Ione contributed to the allied effort during World War II by packing bullets at the Twin Cities Arsenal in Arden Hills.

After the war Ione settled down to raise her family in St. Louis Park. Favorite family activities involved many trips to their cabin on Long Lake near Brainerd. In later years Ione enjoyed working with young children at a nursery and traveling with family members.

Ione was preceded in death by her husband, Jerry; parents, Egidius and Otillie Metz; and brothers, David, Donald and Norman Metz. Ione is survived by her sister, Laura Smith of California; sons, Michael of Columbia Heights, Daniel of Georgetown TX, Joseph (Rosemary) of Casselberry FL and William (Sheryl) of Fort Myers FL, along with 10 grandchildren and 18 great grandchildren.
