Obituary for Irene A. Spinelli Irene A. Spinelli (1925-2018) CEDAR FALLS – Irene A. Spinelli, 93, of Cedar Falls died Friday, July 20, 2018 at her home. She was born May 12, 1925 in Waverly, Iowa, daughter of August and Garnet (Kittle) Anhalt. She married Candeloro “Candy” Spinelli on May 12, 1952 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Waverly.

He preceded her in death on November 5, 2010. Irene graduated from Waverly High School in 1942 and earned her nursing degree from Mercy in Dubuque. She was an operating room nurse at Sartori Memorial Hospital, retiring in 1987.

Survived by: three daughters, Esther (Thomas) Kelly of Spartanburg, SC, Anne (Duane) Carlson of Waterloo, and Carmella (Scott) Pierce of Laurel, MD; a son, Steve (Susan) Spinelli of Lee’s Summit, MO; twelve grandchildren , David, Kristine, and Matthew (Emily) Kelly, Jennifer (Chuck) Hoop, John Mershon, Michelle (Ben)Kubat, Nicole and Stephen (Lauren) Spinelli, Dustin Pierce, Allison (Enrique Collado) Pierce, Philip and Colette Pierce, and eight great grandchildren, Sofia Munoz, Jimmy Hoop, Max and Chloe Murray, Ryan and Lillian Pierce, and Elizabeth and Brianna Collado. Preceded in death by: two sisters, Agnus Anhalt and Rita Haddad; and two brothers, Merlyn and Laverne Anhalt. Services: 9:00 a.m. Tuesday, July 24, 2018 at St. Patrick Catholic Church, with inurnment in the Fairview Cemetery, both in Cedar Falls.
