Irene Lopez (nee Velasquez) age 83, of South Chicago passed away on March 19, 2019. Irene was a retired Special Education Teacher from CPS. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.

Irene was a very active member of the Spanish Pentecostal Church of God. She was kind and genuine to all whom met her, and was very dedicated to teaching children. Irene inspired many to become educators and follow in her footsteps.

Beloved daughter of late Antonio and Maria Velasquez, loving wife of 62 years to Cecilio Lopez, cherished mother of Michael (Vange) Lopez, Dominic (Leslie) Lopez, loving grandmother of Dominic, Irene, Nadia, Jay, Tiffany, Eddie, Elissa, Evelyn, Michael, and Madison. Dearest great-grandmother of many. Loving sister of late Johanna, late Rachael, late Rebecca, Carmen, late Henrietta, Delores, late William, Amelia, Marie, Robert James, late Carlos, late Robert, late Antonio, late Peggy, and late Javier.

Loving aunt to many nieces and nephews. Dearest friend of many. Visitation will be on Friday, March 22, 2019 from 5 PM until 9 PM at South Chicago Pentecostal Church of God, 9231 S. Houston Ave.

Chicago, IL 60617 and on Saturday, March 23, 2019 from 9 AM until 10 AM. Funeral Service to commence at 10 AM. Interment Oakland Memory Lanes, Dolton, IL.

Irene will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her.
