Jack Cornell, 87, of Orange, Texas, passed away on February 26, 2019, in Orange. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Sunday, March 3, 2019, at Old First Orange Baptist Church with Pastor Keith Meyer officiating. Burial will follow the service at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens in Orange.

Visitation will be from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Saturday, March 2, 2019, at Claybar Funeral Home in Orange. Born in Orangefield, Texas, on June 20, 1931, he was the oldest son of Noah Cornell and Lela Peveto. Jack was a Navy Veteran of the Korean War and worked as an operator at DuPont in Orange.

He was a Deacon at Old First Orange Baptist Church and a member of the Volunteer Christian Builders. He enjoyed woodworking, carpentry, and spending time with his family. Jack will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Noah and Lela; sister, Roberta Horn; and his loving wife, Margaret Cornell. Those left to cherish his memory include his daughters, Ann Modica and husband Pete, of Orangefield, Karen Wynn and husband Bobby, of Mauriceville, and Lisa Heuszel and husband Frank, of Katy; grandchildren, Christy, Pete, John, Stacey, Amber, Clifton, Pamela, and Travis; great-grandchildren, Bryce, Byron, Makenna, Gunner, Georgia, Kennedy, Aniston, Paxton, Lane, Reston, and Eli; and his siblings, Ray Cornell and wife Pat and Nelda Phillips and husband Marion. Serving as pallbearers will be Shon Jones, Clifton Heuszel, John Modica, Miles Van Dyke, Pete Modica, Jr., Travis Heuszel, Bryce Carey, and Byron Trahan.

Honorary pallbearers are Paul Eveard Cornell, the Volunteer Christian Builders, and the Deacons of Old First Orange Baptist Church. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Old First Orange Baptist Church at 7925 I-10, Orange, TX 77630.
