Obituary for Jacquelyn “Jackie” S. Toler Jacquelyn “Jackie” S. Toler passed away on April 17, 2018 at the age of 84. She was born in East Point Georgia on August 10, 1933 to Mr. and Mrs. Euchee Harp Skinner. Following high school at Russell High, she attended Georgia State University and received a bachelor’s degree in English with honors.
During her college years, she met a self-assured young medical student, Earle Toler, who she later married. She was happily married to Dr. Earle Q. Toler for nearly 60 years, until his passing in 2012. Jackie lived her entire life in East Point, a fulfilling life marked by family and faith.
She attended Berachah Bible Church in Jonesboro throughout most of her adult life; in her later years, she attended First Baptist Church in East Point. During the 1950s and 1960s, Jackie studied voice under the tutelage of Gertrude McFarland, developing a beautiful soprano voice. For more than 30 years, she sang in operas, plays and weddings.
Throughout her entire life, she sought to impart a positive influence on those she met – kind words, selfless acts, wise counsel, and a caring touch. She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Kathy and Alfred J. Mote of Jasper, Georgia; her son and daughter-in-law, Steven and Jan Toler of Houston, Texas; and her grandson, Wesley Toler of Raleigh, North Carolina; as well as a numerous adoring nieces and nephews from Florida, Georgia and Idaho. Her beautiful smile, wisdom, and positive influence will surely be missed …until united once again, as promised. Funeral services will be held Thursday, April 19, 2018 at 11 o’clock in the Chapel of Parrott Funeral Home with Dr. J.W. Wallis officiating. Interment will follow at Westview Cemetery.
