James E. Metzler, 74, passed away early Sunday morning, January 27, 2019 at his home. James was born on September 30, 1944 in Newton Falls, PA, a son of Paul and Cora (Culp) Metzler. He worked at General Extrusions as a fabricator for 37 years, and enjoyed playing cards, vegetable gardening and woodcutting.

He was a life-long avid fan of the St. Louis Cardinals. He leaves to cherish his memory his wife, the former Martha Hetric, whom he married October 9, 1965; three sons Paul (Janet) of FL, Bruce (Tamara) of Cortland and Tim of Columbiana; two sisters Selma Leipply and Evelyn Leipply; seven grandchildren Daniella, Krystal and Patrick Metzler, Seth, Ben and Jaclyn Bell and Mallory (Brian) Bell-Parsons; and two great-grandchildren Emma Elizabeth and Benjamin Michael Parsons. James was preceded in death by his parents, brother Art and sisters Ellen and Mary.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, January 31 at noon at Seederly-Mong & Beck Funeral Home, 154 S. Elm Street, Columbiana. The family will receive friends from 10am until noon, two hours before the services at the funeral home. The family has entrusted Seederly-Mong & Beck Funeral Home in Columbiana, Ohio with the arrangements for their loved one.
