James’ Obituary James A. Workman, 74, affectionately known as “Papa, Dad, Jimmy”, passed away surrounded by his loving family on Tuesday March 19, 2019. A funeral mass will be celebrated at 1pm at Immaculate Conception Church, 6650 Carolina Beach Rd Wilmington NC 28412 on Saturday March 23, 2019. James “Jim” began is life in the hills of Richwood, West Virginia on May 21, 1944 and then grew up in Mentor, Ohio.

Jim joined the US Air Force in 1964 and was stationed at the base in Minot, ND where he met his loving wife of 51 years, Rosie Thomas. After serving in the Vietnam War he returned to start building his family with Rosie. Jim enjoyed a career in Refrigeration and Heating in which he eventually became self-employed for many years.

After facing physical adversity he changed careers and completed a bachelors degree in Accounting from Minot State University and later retired as a bookkeeper at a local church. Jim was a man of many talents but had a passion for woodwork, working on cars with his brother-in-law, John, and spending time with his family. Left to cherish Jim’s memory is his wife Rosie, their seven children: Wendy(daughter)Easterson and husband Jon of Brentwood, CA.

Jeff(son)Workman of Wilmington, NC. Jennifer(daughter)Kraft of Wilmington, NC. Tyler(son)Workman and wife Meena of Aurora, IL and ten grandchildren, Dereck, Sydney, Grace, Shane, Wyatt, Spencer, Cassidy, Katelin, Jakob, Emerson “rainbow”, Amar and Sonam, all of which brought great joy to him.

Jim is also survived by two brothers, Joe Workman, John (Darlene) Workman, a sister Marilyn(Mike) Predovic, sisters-in-law, Lois Fuehring and Mary Limardo, brothers-in-law, John and Jerome Thomas. Close friend Merrill Tikalsky and many nieces and nephews. Family and Friends are welcome to join in a celebration of Jim’s life following the funeral mass on Saturday at 3401 Chalmers Dr. Wilmington, NC 28409.
