Obituary for James Allen Jones James Allen Jones, October 10, 1933 – April 28, 2018, passed away at home, surrounded by his family and danced his way into the gates of heaven! A better man you will never find, always loving, giving and kind. He’s made his way to heaven’s gates, and for Ivadene, now he waits.
Jim was born to Olive (Sargeant) and Floyd Jones, in Northfield Minnesota, on October 10, 1933. He was one of six children. He attended country school in and around Sargeant and graduated from Austin High School.
He grew up on his family’s farm where he learned his father’s hard-working ethic and his mother’s kindness and compassion. After graduation, Jim immediately joined the US Air Force, where he served his country from 1952 through 1956. He was stationed in Japan for two years of that time.
When Jim came back from Japan, in 1954, he met the love of his life at a dance at the well-known Terp Ballroom in Austin, Minnesota. It was love at first sight and they were married at the Little Brown Church in the Vale on November 21, 1956. Jim began his career with IBM in Rochester, Minnesota in the summer of 1956.
Though Jim was a talented tool maker and dedicated employee of IBM for 30 years, his real passion was found in his wife and five children. Moving to the Boulder County IBM plant in 1965 took them both away from their respective families and forged in the two of them a lifelong commitment to one another. Jim’s many interests included bridge, or any card game for that matter, bowling, traveling (country western music trips to Nashville and Branson), family vacations in Vail, Colorado, numerous trips to Las Vegas and to Mesa, Arizona as snowbirds.
One of the greatest joys in his life was time spent with his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren! He will always be remembered for his love of family, being a loyal friend, his great sense of humor and a genuine heart for his fellow man. He was a member of the United Methodist Church, and through his own example of selfless serving, taught those around him to do the same.
Survivors include his wife, Ivadene, of Loveland; five children; Brad Jones of Fort Myers, Florida; Tami (Bob) Bruntz of Greeley; Sherri (Ed) Holder of Loveland; Terri (Pat) Martin of Sundance, Wyoming; and Marci (Paul) Schwerdtfeger of Loveland; sister, Carol (Gary) Lingbeck of Rochester, Minnesota; his grandchildren: Chad, Justin, Troy, Shalana, Amber, Nikki, Sammi, Savannah and Tylor; his great-grandchildren: Zander, Hunter, Caleb, David, Andrew and a host of other relatives and friends. Jim was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Bill and Dick Jones; two sisters; Betty Jensen and Mary Schmidt. As dad always said, “It’s not so bad once you get started!
