Obituary for Raymond L. Anderson Raymond L. Anderson, 91, passed away peacefully at his home in Fort Collins on June 3, 2018. Ray was born on March 1, 1927 in Beloit, Wisconsin to Elmer and Mae Anderson, the second of four children. His early years were spent in Beloit and, later, the family moved to a farm in Wilmot, South Dakota.

After high school, he was in the Army Air Corps from 1946 to 1947. After his military discharge, he pursued his education, obtaining a Bachelor’s Degree at the University of Minnesota, a Master’s Degree at the University of Minnesota and a PhD. at the University of Wisconsin at Madison in agricultural economics in 1959.

Along the way, he married Betty Lou Echegon in 1952. Following graduation, he moved to Fort Collins and took a position with the U.S. Department of Agriculture, Economic Research Service with an office at CSU where he performed research and taught an upper level graduate class each year. He retired in 1985.

He took a research position at the University of New England in Armidale, Australia in 1989 and he and his wife enjoyed many travels around the south Pacific. Ray loved the mountains and took his family on many picnics, skiing, fishing and camping trips and an annual trip to the foothills to cut fresh Christmas trees. He loved animals, especially dogs and was an enthusiastic dog sitter.

He also enjoyed golf, gardening and Oreo cookies. He is preceded in death by his wife of 54 years, Betty Anderson. He is survived by his three children, Geoffrey (Joyce) of Littleton, CO, Jennifer of Fort Collins and Jeremy (Jamie) of Highlands Ranch, CO.

He is also survived by four grandchildren, Nicholas Anderson of Tacoma, WA, Rachel Anderson of Denver, Nathan Anderson of McCarthy, AK, and Rylie Anderson of Highlands Ranch. A memorial service will be held on Sunday, June 10 at Bohlender Funeral Chapel at 2 pm. Memorial contributions can be made to KUVO jazz radio or the Fort Collins Cat Rescue and Spay and Neuter Clinic.
