James’ Obituary James Barry (PaPa) Perrell, age 76 of Ruff Leonard Road, Lexington passed away in peace surrounded by family and loving friends, Saturday May 4, 2019 at Forsyth Medical Center. A memorial service will be held at 2:00 PM Tuesday at Arcadia Church of Christ where he was a member with Revs. Bobby Leonard and Craig Rapp officiating.

The family will receive friends in the fellowship hall following the service. James was born in Davidson County November 18, 1942 to Paul Rufus Perrell and Anna Sink Perrell. He was a retired employee of Stroh’s Brewery.

He enjoyed gardening, beekeeping, fishing and hunting with his son and special friends, and loved joking and telling stories about the good old days. He considered himself a simple man who lived a simple life, spending time with his family and special friends who were always there when he needed anything. We thank all of you for being in his life.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, James Benjamin Perrell; brothers, David, Paul, Ward and Elbert Perrell and sister Charlene Welch. All of his memory will forever be held in the heart of his wife of 55 years, Nancy Leonard Perrell and his son Barry Perrell and wife Wendy; he was a loving grandfather to Amanda Leigh, Adam Preston and James Benjamin and the sweetest PaPa Jimmy to Noah, Adalyn and Brody. His memory will be held in a special place by his brothers, Lance Perrell (Gail), Gene Perrell (Reba) and sisters Annette Phillips and Iva McMahan; brother-in-law, Bobby Leonard (Shirley); sister-in-law, Patty Swing (Roger) and nieces, nephews and friends who he claimed as his own children.

In lieu of flowers, we would be grateful if all donations were made to support the Ben Perrell Scholarship Fund, c/o Kelli Rapp, 717 Ben Allyn Road, Lexington, NC 27295. The family is being served by Davidson Funeral Home Hickory Tree Chapel.
