James Boyd Smith Jr., age 74 of Nashville died Thursday June 21, 2018 at Phoebe Memorial With his wishes in mind, the family will celebrate his life with a private service. James was born October 23, 1943 to the late James B. and Emma Hunter Haggard Smith Sr He served his country proudly for over 23 years in the U.S. Navy, retiring as a senior chief petty officer.

He enjoyed his family and spending time on the family farm. Survivors include one son, James B. (Michelle) Smith III, one grandson, Ethan Birmingham, one sister, Gladys Kelley Kraudy and one brother, Larry Walker Smith.
