James LaRue “Buddy” Cohick, 92, of Salladasburg went to be with his Savior Jesus Christ on Sunday, May 5, 2019. Born October 23, 1926 In Salladasburg, he was the son of the late James J. and Ida M. (Gohl) Cohick. A graduate of Jersey Shore, Buddy was married to the love of his life, E. Lucille “Mouse” (Berry) Cohick for 53 years before she passed away in 2001.

Buddy retired from Cohick’s Trading Post after working there for 43 years. In addition to being the proprietor of the store, Buddy was also a Dairy Farmer in his younger years. He was the Mayor of the Salladasburg Borough and served as a Board of Director for the Commonwealth Bank.

Buddy was a Mason for over fifty years and also an historian in genealogy. He was very active as a Member of the Jersey Shore Elks, The Elbow Fish and Game Club, also a member and owner of Big Harbor Hunting Club, he loved hunting and fishing. Buddy loved his community; he was active and very involved in many different activities to better the community.

He was a member of the Salladasburg United Methodist Church. Surviving Buddy is a daughter, Patricia L. Cohick Wood (Leonard), three sons, Douglas W. Cohick (Pat), David L. Cohick (Judith), Donald J. Cohick (Janice); a sister, Mary Jane Ross, seven grandchildren and thirteen great grand children. In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by his granddaughter, Angie Shipman.

A Tributes of Life Memorial service will be held at the Salladasburg Church, Wednesday, May 8, 2019 at 11 am with Pastor Kevin Brophy officiating. Burial will be in the Salladasburg Cemetery.
