A Celebration of Life for James Byrne Furay, 68, of Groveton, will be held on Saturday, December 1, 2018, 12 Noon at Behannon’s Warehouse, 205 N 4th St, Lufkin, TX 75901, for family and friends. Jim was born May 5, 1950, in Detroit, Michigan, the son of Walter Byrne Furay and Elizabeth (Ross) Furay, died November 14, 2018 in Houston after a valiant battle with cancer. Jim enjoyed woodworking, growing vegetables in his garden and having projects to do.

He is survived by his wife of 43 years, Diana Smith Furay. He is also survived by his brothers and their spouses, Stephen and wife Faith of Gaylord, MI and Tim and wife Melissa of Westwood, TX; brother-in-law and sister-in-law/cousin T.D. and Paula (Ross) Smith of Houston, TX; nieces and nephews, Misty Gassiott, Stacy Travis, Brian Crocker, Terry Smith, Tommy Smith and Jeremy Furay. Jim was preceded in death by his parents; and sister, Barbara.
