Appalachia, VA James C. Boatwright, 62, passed away on Thursday, March 7, 2019 at Bristol Regional Medical Center in Bristol, TN. Jim or Jimbo as he was known by his friends was a lifelong resident of Appalachia, VA. He was a lifetime member of the Appalachia Fire Department and a Little League umpire for District 13 and the state of Virginia.

He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Appalachia. Jim was preceded in death by his parents, James C. Boatwright and Elsie (Bloomer) Boatwright. Jim is survived by his uncle, Creed Boatwright and wife Phoebe of Crafton, MD; first cousin, Greg Tucker of Columbia, MO; several distant cousins; and may friends.

The family will receive friends from 12 noon to 1 pm on Tuesday, March 12, 2019 at the Roy A. Green Funeral Home in Appalachia, Virginia. Funeral services will be conducted at 1 pm in the funeral home chapel with Larry Munsey and Dr. Nick Brewer officiating. Procession will follow to Powell Valley Memorial Gardens for burial.

Appalachia Fire Department members will serve as pallbearers. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Appalachia Fire Department at 104 Powell Street, Appalachia, VA. Roy A. Green Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
