OBITUARY James Catlin Robertson August 17, 1985 – July 16, 2018 ROBERTSON, Mr. James “Jamie” Catlin, died peacefully on July 16, 2018, at St. Mary’s Hospital in Richmond, Virginia, at the age of 32, after a short and courageous battle with metastatic melanoma. Jamie is survived by his beloved wife, Carolyn Golliday Robertson; his devoted brother, John Thomas Robertson Jr.; his loving parents, John Thomas Robertson and Frances Chalkley Robertson; and father and mother-in-law, Harry and Sally Golliday; his brother-in-law, Miller Golliday; and his Labrador retriever puppy, Olive, all of Richmond, Virginia. Jamie was born on August 17, 1985, in Richmond, Virginia.

He graduated from Collegiate School in Henrico, Virginia, where he won the state wrestling championship for his weight class in his junior and senior years. He earned a B.A. in Business Marketing from James Madison University in 2009. At James Madison, Jamie was a member of the Kappa Sigma Fraternity, where he forged friendships with many cherished friends.

After graduation, Jamie moved to Washington, D.C., where he worked at The Washington Post and Neustar. In 2014, Jamie met his future wife, Carly Golliday, also a Richmond transplant and Collegiate graduate, at a restaurant in Washington. Jamie and Carly moved home to Richmond and were married on April 22, 2017 at Saint Mary’s Church in Goochland, Virginia.

Jamie worked as an account executive with Indaco Risk Advisors. After his wife and family, Jamie’s greatest passion was for sports. He enjoyed playing golf with his friends and in-laws as often as he could.

Jamie also followed the PGA Tour. He and Carly attended the Masters for their first anniversary this spring. Jamie was a dedicated fan of the Dallas Cowboys, James Madison Dukes, Virginia Cavaliers, and the Washington Wizards, Nationals and Capitals.

At age 20, Jamie recovered miraculously after suffering a traumatic brain injury. Jamie had a strong personal faith, especially after this experience. Jamie was kind, gracious, fun and loving with everyone he touched, and he never met a stranger.

Jamie will be fondly remembered by his family and friends as a dedicated and loving husband, son, and brother, a generous and loyal friend, and a fearless and passionate competitor. The family will be forever grateful to the doctors and nurses at St. Mary’s Hospital and the Virginia Cancer Institute for Jamie’s professional and compassionate care. A visitation service will be held at Woody Funeral Home, 1771 N. Parham Rd.
