On Tuesday, January 1, 2019, James Clinton Knox, Jr. passed away at the age of 76. James was born on January 4, 1942 in Sunflower, Mississippi and was a long-time resident of Phenix City, AL and Auburn, AL. James is preceded in death by his father, James Clinton Knox, Sr.; his mother, Willie Dempsey Knox; and his sister, Patsy Ann Knox.

He is survived by his wife Joan; his children: Chez (William) Kirk and Scarlett (Levi) Baker; his grandchildren: Charlie, Lily, and Knox; sister, Virginia (Ray) Hope; sister, Margaret (James) Ayers; brother, Michael Knox; sister, Susan Stromquist; and sister, Kay (Ken) Tye. James enjoyed refurbishing old toys, rebuilding old cars, and spending time in his workshop. He loved gardening and listening to music, but he really loved animals and was always known to take in a stray.

He leaves behind a well-loved dog, Winchester, who welcomes a short car ride or any treats you may feel obliged to share out of grief. Visitation will be held on Friday, January 4, 2019 from 5:00-7:00 p.m. CST, at Jeffcoat-Trant Funeral Home, 1500 Frederick Road, Opelika, AL 36801. The family respectfully declines the gift of flowers.

Winchester suggests memorials be directed to the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (ASPCA). Jeffcoat-Trant Funeral Home is directing. www.
