Mr. James David Poore, age 82, of Lanett, Alabama passed away on Friday, November 23rd, 2018 at his residence. Mr. Poore was born on June 23rd, 1936 in LaGrange, Georgia to the late Frank and Kathryn Johnson Poore. He was also preceded in death by his son, John David Poore; his brother, Larry Poore; sister, Juanita Railey; and great-granddaughter, Savannah Luke.

Mr. Poore retired from the West Point Stevens Company after 46 years of service. In his earlier years, he spent many hours and day working, but he always made time for his family and his friends. He and his family spent many weekends on the lake, where they would go camping, fishing, and hunting.

He was a loving, caring man and friend to all who was always willing to help anyone in need. He and his wife, Gypsy, were known to all as “mawmaw” and “pawpaw”. He had a hand in raising all of his children and many of his childrens’ friends.

He was a wonderful husband of 63 years, a wonderful father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and great-great grandfather. He was loved by many and he loved them all. He will be greatly missed, but forever thought of and forever in our hearts.

On his birthday this year, he received an amazing gift with the birth of his first great-great grandchild, Rahlin, who he adored. He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Gypsy West Poore; children, Amanda Luke, Billy Joe (Shirley) Poore, James Monroe (Jamie) Poore; grandchildren, Dusty (Jay) Luke, Kelly Luke, Misty Poore, Amy (Wayne) Mapp, Angel Ann Poore, Justin Miles Sheppard, Chris (Erin) Poore, Nikki Poore (Eric Smith), Casey Poore, Brent (Corvelyn) Sheppard, Amber (Robbie) Poore; great-grandchildren, Gypsy (Bobby) Jakob, Shyanne, Katy, Cierra, Colton, Victoria, Courtney, Aiden, Kadance, Zack, Dylan, Cobain, Ashton, Dani, Davey, Dalton, and Jade; great-great grandson, Rahlin Deas; great friend and brother-in-law, Gary (Elva) West. Private services will be held at a later date.
