James Dennis Taylor Sr., 88 of Laurel, MS, passed away February 22, 2019 at 1:50 p.m. at the MS State Veterans Home in Collins. He was born on August 31, 1930 at his home in Laurel. He was married to Elizabeth Ann Taylor until her death on May 29, 2017.

He was also preceded in death by his mother, Ethel Taylor; one brother, Ray Taylor; a sister-in-law, Rita Taylor; and one son, James “Jimmy” Dennis Taylor Jr He was survived by one sister, Melba Guthrie; three nephews, Dennis (Juanita) Taylor, David (Ellen) Taylor, and Daniel (Beth) Taylor; one niece, Donna (Randy) Adams,; seven great nieces and nephews;, Jason (Bethany) Taylor, Cassie (Mark) Lenard, Joey (Hope) Taylor, Travis Taylor, April (Derrick) Kendrick, Melanie Taylor, and Sumer Adams; and nine great great nieces and nephews, Joseph McCarty, Hollie Taylor, Kloey Taylor, Conner Lenard, Kaitlyn Lenard, Skyler Taylor, Dillon Taylor, Carter Taylor, and Bella Taylor. James served in the U. S. Army as a (Cpl) truck driver.

James was also co-owner of Taylor’s Small Engine Inc., a successful business for 46 years. Pallbearers will be David Taylor, Daniel Taylor, Randy Adams, Jason Taylor, Travis Taylor, and Roy Martin. Visitation will be held at Memory Chapel Funeral Home Tuesday, February 26, 2019 from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Services will be Wednesday, February 27, 2019 at 10 a.m. at Memory Chapel with burial to follow at Our Home Cemetery.
