James Edward Hudson, Sr was born on March 27th, 1943 to the late L.B and Iona O’Steen Hudson in Horseshoe Beach, Fl. He passed away peacefully on February 5th, 2019 after a brief illness. Also preceded by his death was his brother, Tommy Hudson.

Mr. Hudson married Willa Jean Lockler on June 12th, 1961. Together they had 3 children; Eddie Hudson of Edgefield, SC, Vickie (Jerry) Brannen of Perry, FL, and Dee-Dee (Jerry) Christian of Edgefield, SC. Mr. Hudson was a retired Mechanical Millwright and resided in Edgefield, SC for the better part of the past 30 years.

Mr. Hudson was blessed with 9 grandchildren; Heath (Kylie) Brannen, Caleb Brannen, Alex Sprouse, Kari (Aliyah) Sprouse, Katie Christian, Kellie Christian, Kacie Christian, and Michael Ravey. He had one great-daughter, Grace Brannen, as well as a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Mr. Hudson loved spending time with his family, making music, and piddling around on his small farm in Edgefield.

Graveside services for Mr. Hudson will be held 2:00 PM Saturday, February 9, 2019 at Butler Cemetery in Horseshoe Beach, FL. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Friday evening from 6 – 8 PM. Arrangements have been placed under the care of Rick Gooding Funeral Home Cross City, Florida 352-498-5400 and Chiefland, Florida 352-493-0050.
