Obituary for James E. Mehringer Dateline Jasper, IN James E. Mehringer, age 81, of Jasper, Indiana, passed away at 8:52 a.m. on Wednesday, November 28, 2018, at Memorial Hospital and Healthcare Center in Jasper, Indiana. Jim was born in Jasper, Indiana, on July 28, 1937 to Otto and Agnes (Heichelbech) Mehringer. He married Donna Wagner on October 15, 1959 in St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Ireland.

She preceded him in death on October 1, 2009. He served in the Indiana Army National Guard and was a member of the American Legion Post #147 in Jasper. Jim was a member of Precious Blood Catholic Church in Jasper, the Ireland Knights of Columbus, and the Ireland Sportsman’s Club.

He enjoyed farming and spending time with his friends and family. Surviving are 3 sons, Jerry Mehringer (Vicky), Jasper, Tony Mehringer (Paula), Rockford, IL, and Rod Mehringer (Bonnie) of Jasper, eleven grandchildren, one great-grandchild, two brothers, Dennis Mehringer (Elaine), Jasper and Virgil Mehringer (Penny), Otwell, and special friend Verena Fortwendel of Jasper. Preceding him in death beside his wife were his parents.

A Mass of Christian Burial for James E. Mehringer will be held at Noon on Monday, December 3, 2018 at Precious Blood Catholic Church in Jasper with entombment to follow at Fairview Cemetery Mausoleum in Jasper. A visitation will be held from Noon until 6:00 p.m. on Sunday, December 2, 2018 at the Becher-Kluesner North Chapel in Jasper, IN and from 11:00 a.m. until the Noon Mass on Monday at Precious Blood Church. The Ireland Knights of Columbus will conduct a memorial service at 4:00 p.m. on Sunday at the funeral Home.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Precious Blood Catholic Church, the Ireland Knights of Columbus or to a favorite charity.
