93, of Wakefield, RI passed away on Wednesday, September 26, 2018 at Brookdale South Bay in Wakefield, RI. Born April 29, 1924, in Warwick, Rhode Island, he was the son of the late Christopher J. Sheehan and Hilda M. (Germond) Sheehan. He was predeceased by his brothers, Christopher Sheehan, Walter Sheehan and his sisters, Helen Johnson and Florence Lennon.

Jim was an Associate Professor of Agriculture at the University of Rhode Island Department of Natural Res Science for his entire career. He also worked for the URI Cooperative Extension and the USDA Natural Res Conservation Service in Soils Conservation. Jim served in the Pacific fleet during World War II as Quarter Master on an LST landing ship tank, supporting amphibious operations by carrying tanks, vehicles, cargo and landing troops directly onto shore with no dock or pier.

In his spare time, he enjoyed flying and rehabbing his Piper Cub airplanes. He was also an avid woodworker. Jim is survived by his wife, Beverly Sheehan of Wakefield, RI, four children, Leslie Smith of Wilmot, NH, Stephanie Price of Shannock, RI, Natalie Parker of Narragansett, RI and James Sheehan of Wakefield, RI, three grandchildren, Jennifer Stuart, Johannah LaFountain and Emily Price; and five great-grandchildren.

A private internment ceremony will be held at the Rhode Island Veterans Cemetery in Exeter, Rhode Island. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be sent to South County Hospital.
