Obituary for James Edward Boyle James Edward “Jim” Boyle died peacefully at home, surrounded by family on December 8, 2018. He was a devoted husband, father, friend, and grandfather. Jim was born September 13, 1939 in Great Bend, KS to James U. And Virginia (Dodge) Boyle.

He Married Judy Werhahn, also of Great Bend on August 5, 1962. He graduated from Fort Hays with a bachelor’s degree in 1964 and received his master’s degree from the University of Utah in 1966. He moved to Seattle, Washington and worked for Boeing until November of 1971 when he began working for Bendix in Kansas City (which later became Allied Signal).

After retirement from Allied Signal Jim worked for Lowes and taught part time at Rockhurst College. In 1990 he went to work for Walmart in the paint department – a job he truly loved. He was at Walmart until this fall when he was no longer able to work.

Jim was a dedicated, dependable, hard worker and was known as the guy that could match any paint color. He loved mathematics and enjoyed solving math problems and playing sudoku. He was an avid sports fan and it was a rare day that he was not following a baseball, football or basketball game.

He is survived by a son Eric Paul (Lorinda) Boyle, a daughter Amy Lynn Boyle and four grandchildren Zachary Boyle, Taylor Hart (Spencer), Konnor Boyle, and Britany Boyle. The family is grateful to the Compassionate Care Hospice for his care in his final days. At Jim’s request there will not be a service.
