Obituary for James Irvine, Jr. WEATHERFORD – James Irvine, Jr., MD, 91, died at home under hospice care on Monday, Sept. 10, 2018. Jim was born in Thurber, Texas on Sept.

3, 1927, to James and Mildred Irvine. He moved with his parents to Fort Worth in 1933 and graduated from Arlington Heights High School in 1944. His baccalaureate education was interrupted when he volunteered for service in the U.S. Navy in 1945.

After receiving an Honorable Discharge from the Navy, he graduated from Texas Christian University. His medical degree was conferred by the Southwestern Medical School of the University of Texas in 1953. Days after receiving his medical degree, Jim married Adelle Romaine Hayward of Fort Worth.

Their marriage was blessed with three daughters: Marta Romaine (Mrs. Richard E. Dollins) of Midland, Emily McCorkle (Mrs. Frederick W. Lee) of Weatherford and Laura Leigh Irvine of Fort Worth. Dr. Irvine was a Diplomat of the American Board of Anesthesiology and a Fellow of the American College of Anesthesiologists. He was a member of the American Medical Association, the Texas Medical Association, the Tarrant County Medical Society and other professional organizations.

He served on the staff of several local hospitals. Upon retirement in 1992, Jim and Adelle moved to their Weatherford ranch, where they won the Businessman’s Conservation Award and established a herd of prize-winning Black Brangus cattle. He was a member of the Texas and Southwestern Cattle Raisers Association since 1972, as well as a Life Member of the National Rifle Association.

Jim was preceded in death by his parents; and his wife of 64 years. Survivors: Three daughters; two granddaughters; two grandsons; and four great-grandchildren. These were the love of his life!
