He was born August 26, 1930 in Lincoln County, the son of the late Alfred Hendricks and Minnie Pritchard Hendricks. Jim was a United States Korean War Army Veteran.

He was an active member of Temple Baptist Church in Gastonia and a member of the brotherhood at church. He retired from Pharr-Yarns Unit 8 after 41 years of employment. He enjoyed fishing in his spare time.

He is survived by his loving wife of 66 years, Sarah Barnes Hendricks; son, Lee Hendricks; daughter, Lori and husband, James (Jimmy) Pearson; sister, Peggy Mitchell; grandchildren, Jimmy Pearson and wife Rachel, Melanie Addis and husband Joey, Katie and Heather Roman, and Joseph Gathings; great-grandchildren, Kendall and Cooper Addis; grand dog, Houston Oliver Pearson. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Samuel (Pete) Hendricks; and sister, Georgia Lou Johnson. A funeral service, officiated by Pastor Scott Whitener, Rev.

Greg Ballard, and Rev. Dale Hendricks will be held 2 pm, Monday, March 25, 2019 at Temple Baptist Church, 701 Littlejohn Street, Gastonia, NC 28052. A visitation will be held 6 – 8 pm Sunday at the church.

Burial will be in Gaston Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Temple Baptist Church or Carolina Caring Hospice, 3975 Robinson Rd, Newton, NC 28658. Arrangements are with the South Chapel of Greene Funeral Service and Crematorium, Gastonia.
