Obituary for James “Jim” K. Vaughn Dateline Jasper, IN James K. “Jim” Vaughn, age 94, of Jasper, Indiana, passed away at 2:23 a.m. on Wednesday, October 3, 2018, at Northwood Retirement Community in Jasper, Indiana. Jim was born in Speedwell, Virginia, on October 21, 1923, to Walter and Pearlie Vaughn. He married Rita O. Sermersheim on May 20, 1944, in St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Jasper, Indiana.

She preceded him in death on December 24, 2011. He was a U.S. Navy Veteran, serving during WWII. Jim was a retired Brick Mason.

He also worked at the Jasper Municipal, Sultan’s Run, and French Lick Golf Courses. He was a member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Jasper, the Indiana/Kentucky BAC Union, American Legion Post #147, Jasper K of C, Fraternal Order of Police, Jasper Outdoor REC, and Holy Name Society. He enjoyed golfing and fishing and was an avid St. Louis Cardinals baseball and Indiana University Basketball fan.

Surviving are one daughter, Bonnie Gehlhausen, Jasper, IN, one son, Donald Vaughn Jasper, IN, five grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren, four great great grandchildren. Preceding him in death besides his wife are one sister, Florence Hensley. A Mass of Christian Burial for James K. “Jim” Vaughn will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, October 6, 2018, at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Jasper, with burial to follow in the Fairview Cemetery Mausoleum in Jasper.

American Legion Post #147 will conduct military gravesite rights. A visitation will be held from 9:30 a.m. until the 11:00 a.m. service time at the church on Saturday. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Joseph’s Catholic Church or to a favorite charity.
