Obituary for Lavella E. Singer Dateline Jasper, Indiana Lavella E. Singer, age 88 of Jasper, Indiana, passed quietly from this life on September 28, 2018 at Brookside Village in Jasper, Indiana. Lavella was born at home on a farm in Dubois County on July 24, 1930 to Elmer P. and Margaret (Braun) Fuhrman. She married Paul (Cotton) Singer on October 25, 1969 at Redeemer Lutheran Church in Jasper, Indiana.

He was her strong support in sickness and in health. She was a long time faithful member of Redeemer Lutheran Church in Jasper. She was a warm and cheerful person who loved her Lord.

Lavella and Cotton met as employees of Fritch’s Dutch Lunch, a well-known family eating establishment in Jasper. When they purchased the restaurant from the Fritch family, it became “The Headquarters”. Lavella was known for her culinary skills in making delicious pies, german potato salad, turnip slaw, red hots, brain sandwiches, and other specialties.

After retirement, they spent fifteen years enjoying the winter months at their home in Ft. Myers, FL. She enjoyed gardening, golf, bowling, church activities, family gatherings, and serving others.

Surviving are two sisters, Luetta Mercier (George), Bloomington, IN, and Ruth Elkins, Anderson, IN. , one brother, Luther Fuhrman, Shoals, and sister-in-law, Ellen Fuhrman, Jasper, nieces and nephews and grand nieces and nephews. Preceding her in death were her parents, brother Emil Fuhrman, brother-in-law, George Elkins, and two nephews, Roger Fuhrman and Tim Mercier.

Funeral Services for Lavella E. Singer will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, October 2, 2018 at Redeemer Lutheran Church in Jasper, IN, with burial to follow at St. Paul Cemetery in Haysville, IN. Pastor Adam Ruschau will officiate. A visitation will be held from 9:00 a.m. until the 11:00 a.m. service time on Tuesday, October 2, 2018 at Redeemer Lutheran Church in Jasper.

The family wishes to express their sincere gratitude to Brian and Kathi Mathies and family, the Albert Fritch family, Qualicare, Heart to Heart Hospice, and the entire Brookside Village staff for their compassionate love, support, and dedication. We are deeply indebted to all of these guardian angels. Memorial contributions may be made to Redeemer Lutheran Church or to a favorite charity.
