He was preceded in death by his father, Grady Paul Smith and his sister Ola Weathers. Jimmy is survived by his mother, Beulah Smith; sister, Pauline (Don) Nall; brother, Stephen (Charity) Smith; cousin, Jewell Wilson; nieces, Stephanie (Gary) McFall, Mandy Frye; nephews, Raymond Gilpin, Clint Gilpin, Joseph Singleton, and Paul Nall.
