Obituary for James L. Wuest Sr. New York Mills – James L. Wuest, Sr., 84, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, May 12, 2018 at home. Jim was born on November 12, 1933 in Utica, the son of William and Stella (Kobus) Wuest. He served in the U.S. Navy from 1953 to 1957.

Jim was employed for over 37 years as a truck driver with the West End Brewery. He was a member of St. Joseph St. Patrick Church where he served as an usher. Other memberships include American Legion Whitestown Post 1113 for 27 years, Elks Utica Lodge #33 and Boonville Lodge #2158, Teamsters for 37 years, Rainbow Sportsman’s Club and the North American Fishing Club.

Jim volunteered with Mother Marianne’s West Side Kitchen. He loved the outdoors, hunting, fishing and spending time in the Adirondacks. Surviving are his children, Donna (Don) Gerace, Utica, Craig Wuest, Georgia, Michael (Sue) Wuest, Scotia, NY, Karen (Vincent) Zongrone, Virginia; grandchildren, Michael L. Wuest, Patrick (Jacquelyn) Gerace, Amy (Matthew) Danton, Sarah J. Gerace, Danielle (Blake) Moore, Courtney Zongrone; great grandchildren, Olivia and Luke and several nieces and nephews.

Jim was predeceased by his son, Robert Wuest, grandson, Robert R. Gerace and brothers Richard and William Wuest. Relatives and friends are invited and may call Thursday, May 17, from 4 to 6 p.m. at McGrath, Myslinski, Karboski & Nunn Funeral Directors, 470 French Rd. , Utica.

Funeral services will be Friday at 11 a.m. at St. Joseph St. Patrick Church, where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated. Interment will be in Holy Trinity Cemetery, Yorkville. In lieu of flowers, remembrances in Jim’s name may be made to American Legion Whitestown Post 1113 or St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
