Obituary for Darlitha “Dolly” “Miss J” Magwood UTICA – Darlitha “Dolly” also known as “Miss J” Magwood, age 65, of Utica, went home to the Lord and her loved ones when she passed away on Saturday, June 2, 2018 at the Faxton-St. Luke’s Healthcare Center. Born in Baltimore, Maryland on July 9, 1952, Darlitha was the daughter of the late Viola Sloan and John Magwood. She was raised and educated in Baltimore and attended the Community College of Baltimore where she earned her credentials as an LPN.
She shared in a relationship with Allen Jones, Sr. for numerous years and their marriage was blessed with two children who Dolly loved unconditionally. She later entered into a second union with Elmer Trusty and they shared their life and love until his passing. Dolly worked at Faxton Hospital and the Faxton-St. Luke’s Healthcare Center as a Secretary in the Dialysis Unit.
She was a passionate advocate for the process of Dialysis and a valued employee until her retirement in 2010. Darlitha was able to light up a room! She was stylish, confident in her womanhood, and fond of wearing bedazzled garments.
She had a flair for decorating, and a fancy for leopard print! It was her favorite, and she surrounded herself with it. She loved to shop and she enjoyed conversating with the tenants who she lived with.
In a discussion or debate, Dolly always dared to speak her piece. She was the life of the party and after a glass of champagne, she could dance the night away to her favorite classic Rhythm & Blues music. She enjoyed walking, and she stood tall when she participated in several area medical foundation fundraisers.
She had a loving heart and a lively spirit. During her leisure time, she solved sudoku and crossword puzzles. Her faith in Jesus Christ was instilled in her from a young age and because she was a believer, the Lord walked beside her through the hills and valleys of her life, …and he led her to green pastures every time.
Darlitha is survived by her daughter, Lolitha Jones. Always in her heart was the memory of her son, Allen R. Jones, Jr. who passed away on March 8, 2003. She also leaves her grandchildren, Tiara “Muff Muff” Jones, and Cierra Jones; her sister, Kathreen “Tang” Harris; nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, cousins, friend and loyal companion Jerry Williams; and goddaughter Terri McBride.
She was also blessed to have good friends at the Perretta Twin Towers who kept her going. The family was blessed to have Terri McBride to watch over Dolly, to know of her medical needs, and display unconditional love; they will remain eternally grateful. Darlitha’s life will be celebrated with prayer, and those most close to her heart will be present at a private time.
