James Mattison Russell Greenwood, SC James Mattison Russell, 48, husband of Lori Threadgill, passed away at his home in Greenwood on Saturday, June 16, 2018. Mr. Russell was born in Belton on June 3, 1970 and was the son of Frances Mattison Russell and the late James Thomas Russell. He was a member of Belton Presbyterian Church.

Mr. Russell was a graduate of Belton Honea Path High School and Lander University, where he was a member of Kappa Sigma Fraternity. Jimmy (JR) spent many years in retail sales with an emphasis on beverage sales. He also worked as a counselor at the John De La Howe Wilderness Program and worked as a retail associate for Publix Grocery in Greenwood at the time of his death.

Besides his wife and mother, he is survived by their son, Luis Threadgill, his sister, Frances Mattison Russell of Charleston, and his brother, Thomas Sloan Russell of Charleston, as well as cousins and many lifelong friends. A Memorial Service will be held Thursday, June 21, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. at the Belton Presbyterian Church, 405 Jim Russell Way, Belton. The family will receive friends immediately following the service in the church Fellowship Hall.
