Obituary for James N. “Rope” O’Shields James N. “Rope” O’Shields, 79, widower of Joyce O’Shields, of 8 Piedmont Street passed away Friday, June 29, 2018 at the Spartanburg Regional Hospice Home. He was born in Whitmire SC and was a son of the late J.B. and Alice Ballard O’Shields. Mr. O’Shields was a United States Air Force Veteran of the Korean War.

He was a member of the American Legion and was retired from Jackson Mill in Wellford, SC. He attended the Lydia Mill Church of God and was a black belt in Karate – Shotokan – Shuri-ryu. He is survived by his sons, Gene O’Shields of Lyman and Bobby O’Shields of Duncan; his daughter, Teresa Vaughn (Ken) of Duncan; his sister, Mickey Riley of Clinton; 8 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be conducted Saturday, July 7, 2018 at 1:30 PM at the Lydia Mill Church of God with interment at Pinelawn Memory Garden with Military Honors. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 12:30 to 1:30 PM at the church. Condolences may be expressed to the family at www.
