James P. “Jim” Knittle, 97, of Cogan Station, passed away Tuesday, October 16, 2018 at the Williamsport Home. Born January 7, 1921, in Williamsport, he was a son of the late Harry E. and Elizabeth (Sommers) Knittle. Jim was a United States Army Veteran and served during World War II.

He retired from the former Edward Lakes to Sea now Continental Trailways in 1983 after 37 years of service. Following retirement he worked part-time for Weis Markets for 10 years. Jim was a member of Tabernacle Baptist.

Surviving are his two children, James D. Knittle, of Mill Hall and Jane I. Cupp, of Cogan Station, three grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren. In addition to his wife and parents he was preceded in death by eight brothers, Eugene, Robert, Edward Harry, John, Ray, Richard, and Thomas Knittle; and three sisters, Elizabeth Knittle, Anna Heffne and Catherine McCollin. A funeral service to honor the life of Jim will be held Friday at 10 a.m. at Knight-Confer Funeral Home, 1914 Memorial Avenue, Williamsport with the Rev.

Joel Long officiating. Burial will follow in Twin Hills Memorial Park, Muncy. The family will receive friends from 9:00 a.m. until time of service at Knight-Confer Funeral Home.
