Obituary for James Peterman Jim Peterman, age 50 passed away peacefully at Bronson Hospital on Tuesday evening, June 19, 2018 with his loving family by his side. Jim was born in Vicksburg, MI on November 20, 1967 to Frank and Helen (Meyer) Peterman and was a lifelong resident of Portage. Jim graduated from Portage Central High School in 1985 and started his career at Peterman Concrete where he worked for 30 years and became a co-owner.

Jim enjoyed being in the woods deer hunting or fishing, especially in the Northern Canadian wilderness at the Hatchet Lake Lodge, catching the big fish, and enjoyed the beautiful scenery and wildlife. Jim loved the city of Portage and always knew what was going on around him. He loved cooking for his family and enjoyed watching and feeding the birds at his home.

He also had a passion of going to Mexico with his whole family for special celebrations and fun times. Jim leaves behind to cherish his memory, besides his parents; children, Joshua Peterman, Kaylee (Graham) Norris, Heather (Joe) Gonzalez; the mother of his children, Michele Peterman Brown; two beautiful grandchildren, whom he loved dearly, Kaiden Joe Gonzalez and Charlotte Mae Norris. A big part of Jim’s life also was his former wife, Jean Peterman and her three children, Jennifer Walker, Nicole (Ruben) Martinez, and David Walker; also 3 loved step-grandchildren, Ruben, Mya, and Kenadie Martinez; brother, Scott (Lynn) Peterman.

Special nieces, Jessica (Scott) VanderMeer, Erin Peterman, and Anna Peterman; aunt and uncle, Bill (Jan) Meyer; and cousin Amy (David) Green; along with many other aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends. Jim was preceded in death by his grandparents, Bernard and Marian Meyer, Frank and Tressa Peterman, and his precious little Step-granddaughter, Marissa Hodges. Friends may meet the family from 10:00-11:00am Friday, June 22 at the Langeland Family Funeral Homes, Westside Chapel, 3926 South 9th Street where services will follow at 11:00am.

A light luncheon will follow in the Langeland Family Center. Interment will be in Portage Central Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the charity of your choice.
