Obituary for James M. Pinkowski Dateline: Alton James Mathew Pinkowski, 57, died Saturday, September 1, 2018 at Barnes-Jewish Hospital in St. Louis, MO after a lengthy illness. Born July 18, 1961 in Alton, he was the son of JoAnn (Bryant) Pinkowski of Alton and the late George Pinkowski. James graduated from Alton High School in 1980 and joined the U.S. Navy in 1984.

He attended Lewis & Clark Community Community College and worked for Lanter Warehouse in Granite City. He loved bowling and the St. Louis Cardinals. Along with his mother he is survived by two brothers, Richard Pinkowski of Alton and Mike Pinkowski (Sabrina) of California, four nieces, Katrina and Melanie Pinkowski of California, and Hayley and Maddie Pinkowski of Alton, two nephews, Richard Pinkowski (Sara) of St. Louis, MO and Tanner Pinkowski of Fort Bragg, TX, a special aunt, Aunt Phyllis Whittaker of Kansas as well as Aunt Pat Spencer of Alton and Aunt Sandy Buttry of Missouri.

Along with his father, he was preceded in death by grandparents, Joe and Mary Pinkowski, and a brother, Bill Pinkowski. Gent Funeral Home in Alton is in charge of arrangements. Online guestbook and information may be found at www.
