Obituary for Lily Hughes Dateline: Creve Coeur, MO Lily Hughes age 75, passed away Wednesday, October 17, 2018, at Evelyn’s House in Creve Coeur, MO. She was born July 30, 1943, in St. Louis, MO, the daughter of Preston and Mary (Hebruck) Hapgood. She married Charles Hughes on January 21, 1965, in Wood River, and he survives.

Lily loved bingo, cooking and shopping. She was an avid reader of mystery and romance novels. Her greatest joy was spending time with family especially her great-grandchildren.

The greatest love of her life was her husband, Charles. In addition to her husband, Charles; she is survived by five children, Patricia Breaux of Alton, William Hughes of Pennsylvania, Tina and Pete Morales of Texas, Bobby and Suzanne Hughes of Ellis Grove, IL and Michelle and Norman Finley of St. Mary, MO; six siblings, Mary Blackard of Cottage Hills, Margaret and Bob Lefler of Perryville, Mike Hapgood of Cottage Hills, John and Cathy Hapgood of Perryville, Agnes Roberts of E. Alton, and Susan Vest of Godfrey, twelve grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren. Lily was greatly loved and will be deeply missed by many.

She is preceded in death by her parents, a daughter, Kimberly Hughes, and six siblings, Patricia Hapgood, Shirley Hapgood, Joyce Baylor, Preston Hapgood, Jr., Thomas Hapgood and William Hapgood. Visitation will be held Monday, October 22, 2018 from 9:00 am until the time of service at 11:00 am at Staten-Fine Funeral Home in Alton. Burial will take place in Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery in St. Louis.
