Obituary for Doris J. Stone Doris J. Stone, 84, passed away at 7:16 pm on Thursday, November 15, 2018 at Alton Memorial Hospital. She was born on July 15, 1934 in Nebo, IL the daughter of George and Julia (Crossman) Shaw. She married John E. Stone on June 27, 1953 in Nebo, IL.

He survives. Doris and her husband have been faithful members of the Wood River and Bethalto Christian Churches for over 60 years. She was a member of the Women’s Ministry.

Doris enjoyed reading, attending church and spending time on the lake in Holiday Shores. Most of all she enjoyed spending time with her devoted husband, and family. In addition to her husband she is survived by two children, Larry and Dana Stone of Moro and Jeanne and Richard Gvillo Jr. of Edwardsville; nine grandchildren, Jon (Sami) Brenner, Jeremy (Danielle) Brenner, Jaime (Jason) Sanders, Brandt (Heather) Gvillo, Amanda (Chris) Newgent, Dale Hanneken, Ashley Hanneken, Kaylee Stone, and Blake Stone.

She adored her fourteen great-grandchildren; Gabe Brenner, Dominic, Avery, and Dax Brenner, McKayla, Jackson, and Kerrigan Sanders, Aaron Braden, Dylan, Dawson, and Lucy Hanneken, Ben and Lucy Newgent, and Anabelle Gvillo. She is preceded in death by her parents. Visitation will be from 9:30 am until the time of the service at 11:00 am on Monday, November 19, 2018 at Elias, Kallal and Schaaf Funeral Home in Bethalto.
