Obituary for Jerry D. Todd Dateline: Godfrey Jerry D. Todd, age 77, of Godfrey, passed away peacefully Monday, November 12, 2018 at his home. He was born July 28, 1941, in Bardwell, KY, the son of Millard and Delana (Fisher) Todd. He married Patricia Purdy on February 26, 1977 in Gulf Shores, AL.

In addition to his wife, Patty; he is survived by four children and their spouses, Sherri Lynne Colborn of Florrisant, MO, Troy and his wife Sue Patton of Godfrey, Melissa Ann and her husband Jeff Struif of Godfrey, and Elisa Marie Todd of Alton; two siblings, Danny and his wife JoAnn Todd of Mayfield, KY and Martha Sue Yarborough of Bardwell, KY; four grandchildren, Lola Mae and Hattie Marie Struif, and Samantha Taylor and Rylie Jordan Patton; and many other relatives and friends. Jerry spent almost all his professional life in the trucking industry. He made many good friends and had many good times along the way.

Early on, he attended and played basketball for Ole Miss. Eventually, he made his way to Alton, where he ultimately entered the trucking industry and was extremely successful. In recent years, Jerry was an agent for Greatwide Truckload Management.

He loved working for Greatwide and considered many of the people he met there to be family. Jerry had a great sense of humor. He enjoyed spending time with friends at his house in Gulf Shores and fishing in the Gulf of Mexico.

He loved his church family who have been very supportive of him along the way. Jerry especially loved his family and spending time with them. He will be sadly missed by all of us.

He is preceded in death by his parents, and a brother, Michael G. Todd, as well as a son, Christopher D. Todd. Visitation will be held on November 19, 2018, from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m with service to follow at the Godfrey Church of Christ on Humbert Road. Memorials may be made to the Godfrey Church of Christ at 6412 Humbert Rd, Godfrey, IL 62035 or to the 5 A’s Animal Shelter at 4530 North Alby Street, Godfrey, Illinois, 62035.
